Arizona State University’s presence on the downtown Phoenix campus extends to the Mercado. The Mercado is comprised of six Spanish-style buildings accommodating a variety of ASU colleges, classrooms and offices, with some space leased to local businesses and government agencies. The Mercado accommodates the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, and several of the University’s continuing education programs, such as the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions’ Bob Ramsey Executive Education program, and the American Dream Academy.

The College of Nursing & Health Innovation (CONHI) utilizes facilities at Mercado to provide clinical practice and hands-on instruction for nursing and healthcare students in a variety of undergraduate degrees. The Simulation & Learning Resources (SLR) center, an 18,000 sq. ft. facility equipped with state of the art technology resources, including simulation suites with patient rooms, skills labs, a health assessment lab and a computer library commons, offers invaluable learning environments for CONHI students. At the SLR, students gain hands-on experience practicing what they have learned in the classroom while receiving real-time feedback from instructors and peers. Interprofessional education is embedded in the curricula to promote a collaborative, holistic approach to providing health care.
