University Gateway Building

The new five-story University Gateway Building offers academic and office space on ASU’s Tempe campus, located just west of the Mill Avenue Parking Structure. It serves as a western gateway to the campus and houses several Herberger Institute programs, including music, art, animation and photography. Designed with state-of-the-art facilities such as dark rooms, sound labs, makerspaces and 3D printing technology, the building also features acoustically optimized music practice rooms and advanced studios for motion capture and stop-motion. Architecturally, the building’s gem-like curtainwall façade offers dynamic visual appeal and scenic views of Mill Avenue, while the ground level includes pedestrian-friendly retail and restaurant spaces. The project is pursuing LEED Gold certification through the use of sustainable design and resource-efficient systems.
